Childrens Clothing
The children’s clothing industry is just as important as the equivalent for adults, presenting us with clothing items that will not only fit kids, but also appeal to them aesthetically. There are various specific outlets that specialise in children’s clothing as well as larger clothes stores that have a big section devoted to them, meaning that choice on the high street is varied.
Clothing for children has many similarities to the adult equivalent, perhaps in some unexpected areas. Just as fashion shows across the globe showcase new or upcoming trends in adult clothing, so do children’s fashion shows. This tells us how fashion could have a large role to play in childrenswear. At many modern fashion shows we can see how tartan and sixties style clothing (even fur has a role to play in the industry to some extent – rather controversially) are appearing in the world of child clothing.
As with many industries there is also a body which keeps the Childrenswear industry in check and looks out for the well-being of those involved with the industry. The National Childrenswear Association of Great Britain and Ireland has been around for more than sixty years, meaning it has a keen eye on the clothing that makes it into a kid’s wardrobe.
